First US female in space dies

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-18963939

A sad news and so young. Same age as when my dad died back in 1997.

Agreed, 61 is far too young to die.

But if you measure a life by what is accomplished during that life, rather than simply by its length, it seems like she did rather better than most.

PS @nickstonefan: My dad also passed away far too young, at only 55.

Not to sound platitudinous, but the obvious lesson for the living is ...
It's quality, not quantity, that counts.
Not simply what one "accomplishes" (say, in a job or whatever), but quality in terms of how you enjoyed the daily fabric of life.

Heh, speaking purely for myself, achieving happiness and enjoyment of life is still a work in progress and would be something I'd very much like to accomplish.

I use the word "accomplish" in a very broad sense, rather than an Ozymandian "look upon my works" sense.
