    As posted here, bespin is back to quantal. I've synced my packaging with official, so if there is any user of KDE-goodies PPA + bespin, you will find new kdm and ksplash themes.

      Sadly, the same can be said for Wonton Soup. I wonder why it's so hard to make GTK apps follow sane color scheme rules?

        I'd guess it has something to do with the CSS on a website. If a developer explicity sets a white background but doesn't explicitly set a black foreground, assuming that text is already black anyway, then that would be one plausible explanation for what we're observing.

          This is really an interesting style. I'm going to live with it a few days.

          Some icons are missing (let me know if you want me to make a list). Also, your PPA has slightly different Bespin bits.

          bespin - 201207081951~1582~quantal1 contains:
          * bespin-icons
          * kde-style-bespin
          * kdm-theme-bespin, -aperture, -tibanna
          * ksplash-theme-bespin, -aperture, -tibanna

          kde-style-bespin - 201207080148~1582~quantal1 contains:
          * kde-style-bespin
          * kwin-style-bespin
          * plasma-widget-xbar

          I installed the items in the 1951 list, and mostly it looks good: KDM, KSplash, widget style, icons. The font settings all changed to Ubuntu; I switched them back to my preferred (DejaVu Sans Condensed), but after a reboot they reverted to Ubuntu.

          When I try to install plasma-widget-xbar, APT wants to remove the installed version of kde-style-bespin:
          Code:
          steve@x1:~$ apt-get -s install plasma-widget-xbar
          NOTE: This is only a simulation!
                apt-get needs root privileges for real execution.
                Keep also in mind that locking is deactivated,
                so don't depend on the relevance to the real current situation!
          Reading package lists... Done
          Building dependency tree
          Reading state information... Done
          The following packages will be REMOVED:
            kde-style-bespin
          The following NEW packages will be installed:
            plasma-widget-xbar
          0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 1 to remove and 2 not upgraded.
          Remv kde-style-bespin [201207081951~1582~quantal1]
          Inst plasma-widget-xbar (201207080148~1582~quantal1 KDE goodies:12.10/quantal [amd64])
          Conf plasma-widget-xbar (201207080148~1582~quantal1 KDE goodies:12.10/quantal [amd64])
          Presumably, it wants the 0148 version instead?

            Naming has changed, so "new" kde-style-bespin has the style, kwin deco, and plasma-widget-xbar, I've added description to new package and removed the old one from PPA.
            Old kde-style-bespin:
            Code:
            usr/bin/bespin
            usr/lib/kde4/kstyle_bespin_config.so
            usr/lib/libQtBespin.so
            usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt4/plugins/styles/libbespin.so
            usr/share/doc/kde-style-bespin/changelog.gz
            usr/share/doc/kde-style-bespin/copyright
            usr/share/kde4/apps/kstyle/themes/bespin.themerc
            usr/share/man/man1/bespin.1.gz
            New:
            Code:
            usr/bin/bespin
            usr/lib/kde4/kstyle_bespin_config.so
            [B]usr/lib/kde4/kwin3_bespin.so
            usr/lib/kde4/kwin_bespin_config.so[/B]
            [B]usr/lib/kde4/plasma_applet_xbar.so[/B]
            usr/lib/libQtBespin.so
            usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt4/plugins/styles/libbespin.so
            [B]usr/share/doc/kde-style-bespin/extras/*[/B]
            [B]usr/share/doc/kde-style-bespin/presets/*[/B]
            usr/share/kde4/apps/kstyle/themes/bespin.themerc
            [B]usr/share/kde4/apps/kwin/bespin.desktop[/B]
            [B]usr/share/kde4/services/plasma-applet-xbar.desktop[/B]
            usr/share/man/man1/bespin.1.gz
            As for the fonts, i ran into same issue, but only when i tried to change login theme. It seems that kubuntu-default-settings are to blame, it changed not only fonts to Ubuntu, but default browser to rekonq, disabled kmail's menubar, etc.

            Icons are generated using generate_kde_icons.sh:
            Code:
            cd icons; echo "basename=bespin" >> config; echo "color=black" >> config; echo "halo=white" >> config; \
            echo "alpha=85" >> config; echo "" >> config; ./generate_kde_icons.sh
            Sources:
            https://cloudcity.svn.sourceforge.ne...oudcity/icons/
            If there's anything missing, report to Thomas

Many sites that I visit have CSS that specifies the background colour for forms, but doesn't specify the text colour. So I'd have a situation where I was typing light-coloured text (courtesy of my dark colour scheme) onto a form with a light-coloured background (courtesy of the site's CSS), which meant I couldn't see what I was typing into online forms.

              If anyone knows of a solution to that problem, I'd go back to using a dark colour scheme in a heartbeat as I find them much easier on the eyes than light schemes.

              PS. @wh0rd - try using the OxygenKDE Firefox theme, as it can automatically detect & use your system's specified colour scheme.

              Hello. As a solution to the annoying problem of Firefox not rendering web pages correctly when using darker themes, please see a solution as outlined here:
              https://bugs.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/+bug/1289684

              Hopefully, this fix makes it into the LTS and can be backported as well. Feel free to comment on the bug report, as well as to test the solution to see if it is working for you.

              Admnins: Feel free to break this into a separate thread if you feel it's warranted.
