Are ya ready, kids?!
Well, for a while now, I have been seeing my Windows Vista install slowly go down the tubes since I deleted Kubuntu and gave the entire HDD back to Vista. Bad move. Had to get the MBR repaired by a shop because I didn't have a Vista DVD. Then, after a while, my systems sounds and my ability to see any kinds of pictures suddenly went away one day, including any kind of wallpaper. It was still usable, since I still had sounds for all my programs.......that is, until today when out of nowhere (as I'm playing mp3's) Vista bluescreens and proceeds to dump the memory. I can see the handwriting on the wall.........
So, as of tonight, My laptop is running Kubuntu 10.04 100%, no version of Windows of any kind, save for the restore partition in case I may need Vista in the future, (which, Lord willing, won't be necessary.)
Although I repair Windows systems exclusively, I am finding myself drawn to "Open Source" OS's and software in general mostly for the fact that whatever I install, for the most part, I can do with it as I please. I own it as opposed to merely purchasing a right to use it.
I am following the pattern of installation based on what I had before, except for now I have a few questions:
1. [FIXED ITSELF]
2. What is the best program to burn CD/DVD's with?
3. I installed RealPlayer 11 but it didn't add a plugin for Firefox. How do I rectify that?
4. How do I get the Windows Media Player plugin for Firefox? It's in the Ubuntu system, although I don't know how I got it on there.
5. Is there a mp3 player for Linux that will display album covers or art with each song like WMP did?
Thanks in advance for your help....
Regards...
