    Numbers don't tell all

    As of February 05, 2012 @ 08:55 AM

Ubuntuforums.org has 1,543,310 members, 52,833 which are active. 3.4% of their total members are active.

Kubuntuforums.net has 20,848 members, 1,108 which are active. 5.3% of our total members are active.

I've always said, that while FKN is small compared to UFO, we are more active, and as of today, by 64.1%. Keep it up KFN'ers. Your active participation is what makes our community such a valued Kubuntu resource.

Actual statistics aside, UFO can't begin to compare to KFN--in my *cough* humble opinion, of course--when it comes to the quality of its posts and members. For one thing, UFO isn't very tolerant. Not that, gasp!, *I* would need tolerance for the kind of non-opinionated comments I write. But let's just say that over there, calling out an OBVIOUS windoze troll can result in nasty warnings from mods via PM, and locking of threads, and all sorts of other hysterical nonsense. (No, I've never actually gotten banned or anything, but whatever.)

Anyway, KFN is so vastly superior to UFO I can't even find words to describe how I feel. Yes, me, speechless. :-D

Now, I'll believe that when I see it!

@Snowhog: I'm just curious, how does 5.3% makes us an active board, overall?

This is a lose-lose situation, you do realize that?! If I DIDN'T reply, you wouldn't know I had read your comment (and chuckled), but if I DID reply then I'm not speechless.

Of course I did, silly! Like I've said before, you're worrying too much.

Deduct 10-20% from the activity measures for ubuntuforums.org to account for the moderator warnings and debates and arguments about warnings and other moderator actions!

The intolerance which many (here and elsewhere) have noted at uf.o seems to be a common hazard of very large forums. But that doesn't make it acceptable or bearable.
I'd rather be locked out than locked in.

                Yossarian would appreciate this.

                  Hi...

I would agree that Ubuntu forums has been a bit too heavy with the hickory dickory stick as long as I can remember. I was a member there between 2006-09. However, at the same time, the maturity level between our two forums is vastly different. It was common, at least at that time, to see folks treating others disrespectfully and rudely, especially when someone would write in they were leaving Linux and/or that Windows was better.

Do you mean there? Or was that also common here?

I took it to mean THERE...but now you've got me wondering.

                        No, I meant Ubuntu's forum.

KFN is no bed of roses. There are tons of nonsense posts here about all kinds of random topics. It's a bit silly to spout statistics about the numbers of posts when so many of them are about the colour of Saddam's underwear or some similar stupid thing.
