    Heh. I was involved in some of Microsoft's early IP-TV stuff. I conducted a security review of the original software that ran on Motorola's set-top boxes. The software worked well enough, but Motorola was too cheap to equip the boxes with sufficient hardware, so the software performed poorly. Even Windows CE is too bulky for ought to be a simple thing; it's no surprise that BT is following the trend of removing it. Last year the Windows-based software on my Comcast box was replaced.

      and as I've mentioned elsewhere, the underlying OS for all of the state's KENO operation is "a Linux" of some kind because it loads GRUB first when rebooted and then immediately goes to the KENO interface, so don't know which.
