Dude, I think it's time to say goodbye.

Take that sucker out back and stomp the living crap out of it. It deserves nothing more. And that will make you feel real good.

Lord willing, that will take place hopefully very soon. Unfortunately, it belongs to the owner of the complex, so I have to obtain permission for certain things.

The thing about it is, the hardware seems to be still in good shape, considering that it's ran almost constantly since I put it there in the summer of 2006, (I sold it to the complex in February, 2007.) The poor thing has to spend about 20-25 minutes booting up each time it's started with the hard drive grinding away each and every time for the same 20-25 minutes. It's been doing this since about 2008 when XP was installed on it with AV software that is way too heavy for it. I have to say, Fujitsu makes some pretty reliable drives. The last video card that was pulled out of it when it was upgraded to its current card was a Diablo Nvidia TNT2 M64 32 MB that I bought brand new and installed when I first put the system over there (2006.) When it was replaced last year, I looked the card over and found one of the caps was bulging and slightly slanting to one side. I don't know, Steve, I think this system deserves a medal for what it's been going through all this time and still keeps ticking.

The fact that it's now freezing up I believe has to with possible malware.

However, Lord willing, I intend to retain ownership of the computer (the tower) I want to replace it with, at least while I'm still living here, so some of the problems I've encountered in the past will be avoided.

      Thanks again for your help...

        Hi all...

That approval came yesterday, so Lord willing, the folks at my complex (who will use it) will be introduced to a whole different kind of OS. ;-)
