I'd suggest taking a look out the, uh, windows, but somehow I suspect that would be greeted with derision

I haven't tried it yet, but you could perhaps check out the script for the Weather Underground service on the Arch Forums : https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=128490

Re: Bad news for conkyforecast users

After I installed python-feedparser, I got it working, kinda-sorta. But there's a formatting problem with the output, and I have zero experience fiddling with python scripts -- I can see that there are formatting commands in the last part of his script, but I don't know what they mean or where something is missing. :P

              Code:
              don@aptosidbox:~$ ./wunderground 45459
              (u'49F', '-', u'Overcast')

Re: Bad news for conkyforecast users -- UPDATE

There has been considerable work put into parsing the outputs from accuweather, intellicast, and other weather reporting services, in order to replace the former weather.com subscription service. Here are some useful forum threads:

                http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1156383

                http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...7#post11442297

Consequently, I built a new conky, starting with someone else's script, of course. For weather, this uses the accuweather RSS for the current conditions (which could indeed be ascertained by looking out the window as Steve suggests), and the accuweather USA script for the 3-day forecast (not available out my windows ...). The forecast could go to 5 days but I'm out of screen height and don't care to spread it all over my screen. Here's what I have now -- I turned off the transparency, for clarity in the screenshot. The relevant script is attached (delete the ".txt" and then gunzip it).

                  a) even when I had a gawwwgeous conky set up on #! I couldn't get the weather to work.
                  b) so I opted for:
