SyFy Channel's "got it all right" series thread

SyFy channel really is trying to produce a library of good films within all the genre's of "sci fi" "fantasy" and "si fi/ fantasy"

A lot of the times the story line is great and acting is off, or the acting and story line are great and in an important scene the music gets "muddy" or "lags behind" the pace of the story or is sometimes just awful.

Usually the visuals are really good.

There are, to my mind, quite a few of the SyFy series shows that "have it all right" and I thought I'd start a discussion thread about them,

or series from any other station....

Tin Man, to me has all of it right, the special effects are appropriate, the use of industrial or rural backgrounds are right the actors are good and there are some "medium weight" actors from both film and t.v. and the music is exactly right...

and, on top of that it is a fine adaptation of The Wizard of Oz! lol

So......do YOU have some comments on a particular series or several series?

"Tin Man" was, IMO, one of the very best SyFy channel offerings I've ever seen. Another, although I'm not sure it was made for SyFy, but also one of the very best of it's kind movie I've ever seen was "Mutant Chronicles".

Another good one from Sci-fi err SyFy is Alice. Based on the Alice in Wonderland. Very well done.

            YES!!!
I watched part of it a few days ago and am going to try to find the DVD.

Some of the takeoffs like "zipper" are just inspired.

              Hi,

I don't watch 'tv' but I have a screen and a dvd player so tend to buy the 'complete series' of things and watch them . Very good as no adverts!

Anyway my favourite is Firefly (does that meet the criteria?) and it seems a real pity it ran for such a short time. Following that comes Farscape which is a bit OTT sometimes with all the shouting and trust issues with the 'crew'. Other than that I like, amongst other things, the oldies in black and white and the English version of Red Dwarf!

Out of interest the BBC Radio 4 Extra is running 'Journey into Space' from the 1950's. Quite good.

Anyway got to go - Wallace & Grommit have just got back with the cheese.

I loved Wallace & Grommit the very fist time I say one of the shows. Claymation at its best!
