I have been using Teamview for some time. It works great. No video, but it is the easiest to use remote control application I have ever tried.

I pointed out Teamview to GreyGeek (I had it installed). He installed it and we played with it a bit. He too, thinks it is one of the best and easiest remote control application he has used. It's a keeper. While it lacks audio/visual, it does have Chat.Windows no longer obstructs my view.

BigBlueButton (http://www.bigbluebutton.org/) has been around for a while, is free (even for commerical use), and allows a variety of sharing.

Does it require FireFox? I can't get it to connect using Chromium. What about using Krdc as a client and setting up a VNC server? Then we don't need W(h)ine
...I've never had to install a VNC server, though. Is there a simple "click here and be done" version that could easily go onto the to-be-controlled computer?

I have been on the Skype LInux blog for a while and they kept saying that there was a non beta version in the works. However they would never give any kind of timeline, so it made people very suspicious that they were just being fed bull****. Even right up to release date there was nothing, it just seems to be a very strange way to go about things. Nice to here the positive comments. Just uninstalled 2.2 and installed 4.0.Windows no longer obstructs my view.

Hello. I just dl and installed Ekiga. It works, but the echo test fails. Audio feedback amplitude grows to untennible levels until I end the call. I don't see an audio setting to solve that challenge, only what device to use.
Also, in regard to your remote users, have you ever tried Teamviewer7? It's an amazing remote control app that worked for me "right out of the box," of course YMMV. Take care.

I had the same problem with Ekiga and had to use a headset to avoid feedback from the phones to the mic. But, over all, Ekiga just doesn't work well.

My only issues with Skype 4 is the fact that unlike the Deb in the canonical repo, it pulls in ALL 200+ ia32 lib packages, instead of the 70 or so needed, as it is still really a32 bit application
A minor quibble is that I can no longer seem to get the ring tone to play through my speakers while my headset is plugged in, which I could do in ver2. I could hear the ring without wearing my headset. Could just be my bad phonon settings,
As an aside, in 12.10 with pulse audio 2, Skype 2 has individual device listings in its settings drop downs
