Re: Bin Laden is dead - and the U.S. has the body

Well, here is the GRISLY answer to how they got the DNA..... the CIA kept his sisters brain and got the DNA profile from it.

The confirmed the DNA after UBL's death.

GRISLY picture of her brain so don't go there if you are squeamish.

Re: Bin Laden is dead - and the U.S. has the body

As far as the celebration goes, my observation of the news showed mostly younger folks celebrating. Those interviewed who lost friends and relatives in the 911 attack appeared more somber and relieved. Some will celebrate at any excuse. We all celebrate or mourn in our own way. Nothing wrong with that. I do recall seeing images of some on the other side celebrating when thousands lost there lives in 2001.

Is it over? Not likely. The world is full of psychos in all religions and nations.

Ken: Relieved, somber and reflective. Hmm, well, maybe a drink or two would be in order.

Here are the lat and long of Bin Laden's Compound: 34.169218, 73.242434
Plug it into GoogleMaps or GoogleEarth.

Originally, Google put it here: 34.146115,73.217092
which is where I put it watching ABC & CBS's information. (You can see the "Gov Post Graduate College #1", which they focused on last night, off to the right (east))

Re: Bin Laden is dead - and the U.S. has the body

Has anyone stopped to think that Pres. Obama was yucking it up at a press roast on Saturday? I mean the man had to act as if nothing was going on.

No wonder the man's hair is turning gray.

As a side note: I've often said that the next big attack in the U.S. will be in the most unlikely place. Usama was hiding "in plain sight". I think the next big attack will not be New York city, it will be someplace like Santa Barbara or Pittsburgh, or the Mall of Americas.... the least likely place that will also inflict the greatest human suffering.

I'm not going after an "ethnic" group or a "gender" group, but if one thinks about it, the next down in rank of hatred after alcoholics is homosexuals. What city prides itself on "gay pride"? What city prides itself on "beer"? AND....which OTHER COUNTRY bought a big U.S. distillery?

People think in terms of another attack on New York... dunno....

It is amazing how the stress of the Presidency ages them. They all leave looking 20 years older!

                Hmm.
I heard at work today that Islamic religious law or custom, don't know which, requires a body to be buried as soon as possible after death, presumably within 24 hours. A quickie google search backs that up. I think the burial at sea was to preclude the creation of a permanent memorial or shrine which would be enabled with a traditional grave.

I think that "this says it all".

This is what seems to be a reasonable good timeline with some interesting side views:

"Here is bin Laden, who has been calling for these attacks, living in this $1 million-plus compound, living in an area that is far removed from the front,

hiding behind women who are put in front of him as a shield,"

                  said Brennan.
The women, could, I guess, arguably, be called martyrs .....

Pakistan was keeping UBL in the compound?

Here is a rather curious blog post from the New Yorker which rather coincides with an analysis by a former CIA/military guy on t.v.

UBL was actually being "kept" in a "gilded cage"..... "probably" to be "used" when the Pakistanis' wanted to use him.

This also kind of fits into the whole "Arabic" thing about when someone asks "for a room" that the host is REQURED to give the "room" even though the person is an enemy.

So...mebbe had "decided to take it easy" asked for "a room" and got taken to this very high tech, and expensive (a million bucks) place... in the middle of a big town and a few blocks from a major military headquarters.

                    So...all very speculative.

Re: Bin Laden is dead - and the U.S. has the body

Pres. Obama is not stupid, and this incident proves he is no coward. Being well trained in Islam and Sharia Law, he knows full well that in all probability one or more death fatwas will be placed on him and his family by the Wahhabies, and they will remain in affect for the rest of his life. There are many examples of such fatwas and their results. Because he wrote "Satanic Verses", a book criticizing Islam, Salman Rushdie, an Indian, is under a death fatwā against him by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the deceased Supreme Leader of Iran, on February 14, 1989. The maker of the Dutch film, Submission, which is a literal translation of the word "Islam", was assassinated by Wahhabi Muslims for making that film. Wahhabies pose a threat to the traditional Muslims, as witnessed by the fact that annually the Wahhabies murder them by the tens of thousands around the world, using 12 year old children as bomb carriers, such is the inhumanity of their radicalism.

Fortunately, Pres. Obama has a well trained and dedicated security detail, which will remain with him and his family for the rest of their lives. Regardless, it still takes guts to paint a bulls eye on one's back.

Which was his undoing, fortunately. In looking at the compound through GoogleEarth one can see a satellite dish on the roof, so he was probably watch news videos from around the world. I suspect that he had set up a padded coding system so that operatives in the field could, using one-time pads generated from pre-arranged signals (like adding taking the Julian date, adding it to PI, dividing by 36 and taking the remainder, etc., in order to generate a letter substitution pad) could send send him messages in "news" reports and other kinds of video and audio files. He had to respond by sending out a messenger with his reply.

A question I have is how could he have stayed for 5 years within a mile of a military base and a couple of miles from a police station and NOT have been detected, especially since he was living behind a virtual prison fortress with 18' high walls topped with barbed wire, and also having a 7' high wall around the third story balcony. He couldn't have. Such defensive measures, even if designed only to keep locals out, would have raised the curiosity of any local law enforcement or even the military. The Pakistani higher ups, including their "CIA", the ISI, surely KNEW he was there. That's probably why, when asked where they though he was, they always replied that he was in the tribal border region, sending the US on a continuing wild goose chase. And for this we gave them BILLIONS. It's time to stop the money (it was probably used to fund Ben Laden) and treat Pakistan as the enemy it is. They need a gift ... something like Stuxnet ... to help them with their nuclear research and weapons development.

EXACTLY! It's not nown, or at least it has not been publicly stated/confired, if he was living there since it was built in 2005, or if it was built or him. BUT, the $1,000,000,000.00 question is, HOW COULD THE GOVERNMENT OF PAKISTAN CLAIM, WITH ANY CREDIBILITY, THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW HE WAS THERE!!

Re: Bin Laden is dead - and the U.S. has the body

There is absolutely no new information herein, it is just some musings.

                              a) This whole thing about him being in the compound for years may just be something that is out of our contextual spheres.

Folks who may have known me back at Xandros days may remember that I had a "short story" about UBL first in a cave and then where he bought the whole "thirteenth" floor of a Paris Hotel and since he was supposedly an "ascetic" wouldn't mind living there in relative luxury. But the politically correct there suggested that I remove it.

                              But, back to the compound,

if we put aside "our" way of living and consider that many of the countries in the area live by the "strong man" pattern

and also remember the "privacy" thing, the societies have had "walled" houses for a thousand years....

then one might arguably think that the "powers that be" figured possibly that a drug warlord lived there and since he chose to stay behind a wall and didn't interact with anyone....well, let sleeping dogs lie..

                              b) Something that has really struck me as odd is the "myth" that he was an "ascetic"... I even mentioned it in an earlier post. Turns out that he had three or four wives, apparently "divorced" or "said go away" to three of them had a new wife that was a teenager....

A certain square bottle on a "medication" shelf indicate that possibly he had a dry skin problem or used the material therein for other purposes.... after all, apparently he had 25 kids or so... thus blowing the idea of asceticism.

Take a look at the first picture in the series:

                              http://abcnews.go.com/International/...-zone-13508190

It might be an idea to consider that if the pres does publish the picture of him dead they ought to also have someone detail the stuff in the house to maybe bust the myth a little further.

                              c) As to the "televisions" in one of the pictures there is a big black device up on a high round "box" or something that looks at least "somewhat" like an old "portable" t.v. We think in terms of cable but it could just be an an antenna t.v.

Look at picture number 9 in this slide series:

                              http://abcnews.go.com/International/...-zone-13508190

I used to use a piece of half inch copper tubing, about four feet long, bent into an "L" that i wired to a t.v. and turned it broadside of a station and got great reception.

                              d) What might be hilarious is if the "teenage wife" escaped somehow, and sold her life story to a movie company and got a "new face" along with it ....and we found out that the guy was really just a doof that had animal magnetism like Hitler and had to buy a teenage wife because he couldn't keep an adult interested, except in one way, and sat around watching their version of Discovery channel on monster earth movers(check his bio at Wikipedia) !

                              e) The thing about "burning trash" is not that big a deal. Everybody I knew when I was a kid "burned trash" and after the can got half full or so we called the trash man, he/they brought a new can and picked up the old one and took it "to the dump" for a fee.

The "intellegentsia" of the U.S. upper crust keep snooting their noses that the people of the U.S. are so "insular" that we don't "appreciate" what goes on in other countries. But I've watched several of the "talking head" t.v. personalities offering up very good proof that they have no clue about what happened even in the U.S. twenty years ago.

It's rather like some snoots that came by a farm where I was with an FFA group "judging" Angus calves and the guy got out of his Beemer and asked if he could take a picture of the pretty black "sheep" for his wife(she stayed in the car).

                              end of musings.
