    Platypux and LDR.

These are at the Distrowatch site as "new Linux".

Platypux is just....well, hard to understand....the site is in English but there are French sections. And, apparently, the main developer of Platypux has also made a java application, called "Java Mplayer" which, is appparently, included in the Distro and a "Visualboy advance" interface for game playing.

So.....the distro is a a vehicle to demonstrate Java Mplayer, POSSIBLY....don't exactly know....

but....one has to kind of respect the ingenuity of the fellow in creativity of thinking!

LDR is Linux Done Right which is a version of Arch... I did the Arch thing a couple of years ago after I got interested in #!. Arch is waaaaayyyyyyyy to much work for me but for folks who have toyed with the idea LDR may be of interest.

I have NOT installed either of these, just pointing them out.

But again, the just, dogpile roiling around of Linux continues to amaze me....a whole distribution devoted, apparently, to promoting a media player and a "purest of the pure Stallman wise" both indicated the same day at DW!

    Heh.

With "Adobe Flash" on the list of included packages, I'm pretty confident RMS would NOT agree that LDR is "open and free".

As a philosophical point, one could also debate the proposition that Arch, forcing the user to work so hard to put the pieces together, is really "free". It seemed more like having a slave master, when I tried it.
