article: internet use = t.v. also e-mail most used is food for thought.

We've all seen the usual articles about how people spend time online versus t.v.

In this there are two items of interest particularly for Linux and that is the amount of time that people use "e-mail". The other being the increasing amount of time that people are viewing video online.

It might be that, given the disproportionately high use of e-mail, there might be some discussion in Linux circles, in terms of "getting things to work easily" or in some "different and better way" with Linux.

On the other hand, the numbers from the article may include a lot of people that use online servers such as Yahoo or their ISP and don't really use a "client" that much, dunno.

But it is at least worth a thought ....the thought be to somehow "enhance" or "integrate better" or "try a revolutionary new method" with e-mail to attract people from the Windblows world.

One prime example how this is being done on phones is the absolutely hilarious return to IBM's version of "windows" back in the dinosaur days by Microshaft.

When MS came out with "Windows", IBM produced a green screen setup with, I think, 8 boxes on it in which one was word processing, one was spreadsheet, etc. and what one did was move the mouse to the box and click it! Really hilarious...and jeered at by all, including myself.

But....the new windows phone uses exactly that setup. A simple set of BIG boxes that...........constantly, automatically, update...

Maybe Kubuntu could come as a default "alternate" setup, with Kontact or something onscreen with a "manual" to show how to set up a POP account etc.

    dunno, just a suggestion.

But take a look at the article...
