    HP games

I have an HP cp1700 inkjet printer and it has the "feature" of cartridge expiration. I don't print much! So I have thrown away nearly full cartridges in the past. I was trying to print the other day and it wouldn't because of said feature. Times are tough and I certainly wasn't interested in giving to the HP share holder charity fund. Started "the google" and game across a couple of sites of interest.

If your printer has this feature, you can take the battery out and continue printing. The thing I find interesting is you can leave the battery out without any usage repercussions. So is this battery and circuit board there simply to extort money out of it's customers? It appears so.

    Hi...

Thank you for the links. Although I'm not surprised, I find this all very unfortunate.

thanks very much for the linky.

The out of ink thing is precisely why I still run an HP laserjet 6P(I bought three of them second hand and the other two are wrapped in plastic and I have two refilled cartridges still in their cellwrap(these are HUGE cartridges). and I also have the HP Deskjet F380 for the same precise reason, I can refill the carts.

As to the battery, my better half does a LOT of family history and scrapbooking and we have the latest Canon, as of last year, and it has the chip inside the cart and can't be refilled. I'm not going to fiddle with her device, but when I am finally forced to go to a machine that does this, I'm going to look for the battery!

      thanks again!
