It looks as if it's Kubuntu from now on!

    All:
Ever since Mandriva had some economic issues last year, I have noticed some deficiencies in it's Linux product. I finally decided to see what others were saying about Kubuntu. I am glad that I did! :-)
So far, everything works great. I hope to find a nice, free website in order to safely download some debian packages for my PC. So far, Kubuntu and I are friends. :-)

    Welcome to KFN.

You should always first check the over 20,000 packages that are readily available to you from the existing, activated repositories that are part of Kubuntu. Open KPackagekit and search. If desired, install Muon or Synaptic package managers, which are still superior to KPackagekit, although KPackagekit (at least since Maverick) is much better than it used to be.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

The only other repositories you might need are the ones at Medibuntu. That's were the non-free stuff is. Codecs and such.
