It hasn't been many years since almost all malware was transmitted by infected floppy disks.

Schools used to be a total cesspool of viruses. The elementary school kids used to all bring their favourite games to school on 5.25 floppies. Then they'd take those floppies back home. I have a feeling that very few of them figured it out and 20 years later are now bringing their thumb drives to the office.
