    Is there any question as to why the majority of Americans are disgusted with ALL politicians?

    Should she have known better?
    As Holmes Norton repeatedly notes on the call, she is a senior member of Congress. She knows or should know all of this. First elected to Congress in 1990, she took her law degree from Yale University and clerked for U.S. District Court Judge Leon Higginbotham before working as an assistant legal director at the ACLU, law professor at NYU, Chairman of the NYC Human Rights Commission, and Chairman of the EEOC. She is a tenured law professor at Georgetown University and serves on the boards of three Fortune 500 companies.

        Proposed Amendment to the U.S. Constitution (that should be initiated and ratified by the States):

        Term Limits, Salary, Retirement, and Benefits of United States Legislators (House and Senate)

        1. Term limits shall be imposed on the United States House of Representatives and United States Senate as follows:
        a. Members elected to the United States House of Representatives (the 'House') shall serve a single term of four years (the 'Term'). No elected member of the House shall be eligible for election to the House until the fifth year following the end of their elected term.

        b. Members elected to the United States Senate (the 'Senate') shall serve a single term of six years (the 'Term), with one-third of the Senate being elected every two years. No elected member of the Senate shall be eligible for election to the Senate until the seventh year following the end of their elected term.

        2. Compensation (the 'Salary') for elected service to the House and Senate shall be based on current "Real median household income" (the 'Income'), compiled and published by the United States Census Bureau as follows:
        a. The Salary of members elected to the House shall be one times the Income.
        b. The Salary of members elected to the Senate shall be two times the Income.

        The Income shall be adjusted annually during the Term to reflect the current Income.
        Elected members to the House and to the Senate shall be paid no additional Salary.

        3. Elected members of the House and of the Senate are, at the completion of their term, prohibited from receiving a retirement benefit not also available to, and enjoyed by, the citizens of the United States of America. Elected members of the House and of The Senate may participate in any retirement plan or program available to the citizens of the United States of America.

        4. Elected members of the House and of the Senate are, at the completion of their term, prohibited from receiving non-retirement benefits not also available to, and enjoyed by, the citizens of the United States of America.

          I'd add:

          5 Corporations, both public and private, either profit or non-profit, are prohibited from donating to candidates or elected officials in any way, directly or indirectly. Lobbying candidates for or members of the House or Senate in any form or manner is hereby prohibited, with minimum mandatory prison terms for the management and board members of corporations convicted of attempts to, or do, influence Congressional business, with or without the exchange of money or other assets. Convicted corporations will have their charter canceled and their corporate assets seized and placed in the General US Treasury. Personal assets of board and management of convicted corporations will also have their assets seized. (The cabal between corporations and federal agencies and politicians is the most dangerous threat our country faces today. period.)

          6. To avoid conflict of interests, citizens who receive medicaid, ADC, or other payments from taxpayer supported welfare programs (this does not include Social Security) are prohibited from voting for candidates for the House or Senate during their participation in such programs and for a period of up to one year following their last payments from such programs. (People voting to fund their own welfare retirement program because they decided that they can have fun and tax payers have to support any children from that fun, or that anchor babies entitles their parents to a life of public support is just plain unfair to people who are responsible and work to support themselves, pay their own way and pay taxes to support the infrastructure of this country.)

              The terms of the members of the us Senate are already 6 years. Snowhog's suggestion is a term limit of one 6 year term followed by an interim passage of 7 years before they can run again. Since the "2nd 6 years" would already be taken by one eligible to run, it effectively puts 12 years between two "terms" for any US Senator.

              Excellent Idea.

                What I meant was to reduce it to 4 years and let them wait for about 7 to 12 years to be elegible for another 4 year-period hehehe

                    I'm so glad to see citizens of the USA know whats broken in their political "SYSTEM" and have excellent ideas on how to fix it....

                          I believe he is in fantasy land, but I wouldn't doubt that Putin and his FBG are doing everything they can to incite the hotheads.

                            If talking about predictions, I'll say California will end up being an island with some other neighbor states thanks to San Andreas fault even before it declares itself a separate (independent) political organization.

                            I think I read something about USA being another country from the (English / UK) Common Wealth in the future...
