Why the separate forum???

I was just wondering......if Ubuntu is a part of Kubuntu, not a fork, why the separate forum? Ubuntuforums.org already as a section for Kubuntu, then what's the need for a separate forum?

This is becoming a little rediculous since this question has been answered numerous times in the last section of these forums. Please read those posts if you would like more information.
