EDIT: Am I a thread killer?
    Because you use a Mac?

    No.

Even Windows users are forum members, weening themselves off the MS teat, or seeking comfort and solace because they are forced to use it.

In recent weeks I've been comparing graphics performance of my hardware, when running Kubuntu 10.04 and another OS. I guess you can tell I'm not using a "serious" benchmarking tool .....

Also, it turns out glxgears is a really fast way to determine whether the video driver, with OpenGL and compositing extensions, is installed and working correctly. There have been some "point release" kernels, that didn't change the main version number, but broke the driver module anyway (or I suspected it did). So that probably explains an occasional use of glxgears.
