    Medibuntu repository down ...

As of 12:02 PM CST, the medibuntu repository has been down for over 24 hours. While the front end pages are still open for browsing, the repository won't load in Synaptic, nor will the repository IP address return a ping.

I've found no news as to what the problem is or how long it will be down. But, I have found a jerk claiming that a certain entry in the hosts file will allow access. The IP address he gives, while similar to the repository IP address, leads to his personal website and a test page. Posting something like that is a pure invitation to "visit" his website.

Medibuntu has/does go 'down' on occasion. The frustrating thing when they do, is they don't put out any information as to why.

I noticed that they had switched from Apache to Lighttpd on the 17th, just before the site went off line. They have used Lighttpd before, but one can only speculate why they are down now. Hardware failure? Security breach? Spring Break?

Bug report here. Looks like it'll be down for another day or so.

Maxence is aware of the problem. Unfortunately, it's likely that the front-end, which is what is currently down, won't be back up until Wednesday...
