Re: Glimps into the future?
The more I read about Mono the more worrisome it becomes.
From what I have read, Microsoft .NET is the application framework that MS has been pushing since Windows 98 Second Edition. It was always Microsoft's intention to use .NET as a Java-killer, luring developers away from Java and Free Software. For those who don't know yet, the Java software platform is almost entirely made of open source or Free Software (GPL). So if Microsoft can kill Java (market-wise) then they have dealt a huge blow to Free Software.
Why does that relate to Mono? Because .NET is the C# API and Mono copies it.
Edit: As long as I am spouting off about things I barely understand, it would be nice if someone who knows the true facts could correct me on my mistakes or fill in the gaps a little.
