I have check md5 and was ok.
It starts in live mode perfectly and graphic screen. Just when the underline Kubuntu arrives to final, a text screen appears and works until checking battery state (answers OK) it stops.
Nothing to do! It stops and I need to reboot
    Help
I also use karmic-netbook-remix and works perfect!
    Hi from Kubuntu netbook
I think using Kubuntu on a netbook strongly depends on how good or bad luck you have with a hardware.

I use Kubuntu 9.04 on Acer Aspire One D 150-1 and almost everything works fine - KDE, plasma, desktop effects, webcamera, external microphone, Skype, USB speakers, sound, video, flash etc. No problems with installation on two the same notebooks dual bootable with XP.

I used kubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso and installed Kubuntu from life USB made with unetbootin. I did no KDE upgrade, still 4.2.2. and I did just an usual customization, synaptic, wicd, PCM sound and so on.

    Updated 27.9.2009:
In my post I wanted to show to New Guy jtouso, that instead of looking for some unfinished solutions there is a pretty good solution at hands at least for some netbooks.
Kubuntu 16.04 on two computers and Kubuntu 17.04 on DELL Latitude 13

I also run Kubuntu on a netbook (eeepc 701) and love it

I downloaded and installed Kubuntu Netbook Edition Alpha 6. The wireless has to be set up from the command line as there is no way to activate the Broadcom STA driver in Hardware Drivers. It really looks like a scaled down version of Kubuntu appropriate for netbooks. It should be ready when Karmic is general availability in October

I'm running it on Dell Mini 10.

Excellent (Sans wifi), how about the hotkeys? Are they working? I just bought a Mini 9 that I love, and will upgrade for 9.10

        Thanks!

Wifi works once the drivers are installed and activated. Not sure about the hot keys but the mini Kubuntu looks cool on a netbook!

            Re: Kubuntu netbook

On my EEE-1000, wifi works out of the box with a fresh install of Kubuntu-9.04. All hotkeys work after installing the eee-control panel (it's not in the repos, but is a dpkg, get it here: http://greg.geekmind.org/eee-control). With that app, everything works and I can even customize what the different hotkeys do, which is awesome.

Great tip, Sprince! Though it doesn't seem to work with Dell's. It is these little things that make the huge difference. Click the hotkey to raise the volume and have it work .... priceless

No wonder I am running GNOME again for the first time in 10 years or so! (it came preinstalled in my del mini and it has all these lil bits figuerd out, unlike the default kde from the same Dell repos).

                Re: Kubuntu netbook

I tried the 9.10 beta version, and same thing as Norman, the wifi cannot be activated from the hardware drivers. Also, KPackageKit is broken (it doesn't ask for root password). Both issues could be related, and really symptoms of a broken policiKit.

The hotkeys are working, at least the ones I care the most about (volume and screen brightness), which is great! Suspend is working. It is almost there!

I agree it looks like a customized Kubuntu. The real novelties are
                • The way you navigate the menu (using icons on the desktop, similar to the clutter interface but better looking), and
                • The way the "activities" are configured by default (two virtual desktops, one for web2.0 and the other for the local apps, kind of a pretty cute idea).

This is looking great and it's just a preview. I hope the fundamental things get fixed for the release, I'll try to help with that in launchpad.

                  Re: Kubuntu netbook

Uninstall KPackagekit and install Synaptic and Update Manager. Then you are good to go to receive updates during the Beta. 2 to 3 times a day.

                    Re: Kubuntu netbook

I'm wondering if any one noticed the Internet Icon disappearing from the Netbook Panel after Tuesday's updates? It hasn't come back and I've filed a bug report with Launchpad so the developers can work on a fix.

Thanks! Sorry, I forgot to say, the kpackagekit bug is reported in launchpad, apparently it doesn't have policykit as a dependency in the deb package, but it should. And, yes, I always install synaptic regardless. I find the "history" feature, and the fact that it shows me which packages are supported and which not, both priceless. Plus, the tools to recover broken packages, etc.

It was fixed. All the icons are back in place. I downloaded the libstdcc +5 package from Jaunty and was able to subsequently install and run Ubuntuzilla. The only thing wrong the netbook edition is there is still no way to pin applications into the Favorites bar.

Have you tried my suggestion? Hover on the app, you'll see a star on the upper left, click on it. That's it! At least here (before I replaced the install with a regular kubuntu)

The star does work. For some reason, Synaptic keeps disappearing from the bar at every reboot.
