Just installed Karmic Alpha 6 on 2 laptops (one Amd, one Intel with nvidia) and 1 desktop and it is fantastic. It's probably the best Kubuntu with kde4.x so far. Everything is running smootly and fast even on the underpowered Amd-laptop.

Re: Fantastic
Great to know. Many thanks for your post.
I'm interested to know if you are using the Network Manager applet and do you connect to wired and wireless networks, how do you find it compared to the earlier alphas? Have you tried it with WPA2 wireless?
Any improvement also in KPackageKit?
Finally, are you using desktop effects with the nvidia laptop?HP Compaq nc6400, 2Gi, 100Gi, ATI x1300 with 512M

Re: Fantastic
I connect just fine with wpa2 on my laptop running Karmic using the new system tray applet that is installed by default, this has been working for me at least since alpha 4. kpackagekit has had a number upgrades and updates and works fine now as well
