Re: Reason for Kubuntu users to be smug

Here's a reason to be smug.....

My brother, an avid Microflacid user. You know the kind, has to have the latest they have to offer and a devoted user as well. He just upgraded to Win 7 and then needed to print out an important document. Well guess what? He can't, his printer isn't supported. So he called over to my mother who now uses Kubuntu exclusively. Thanks to me talking her out of the Winblows crap. It took some time but she loves it!! She just upgraded to 9.10 all by herself!!! She was quite proud of her 70 year old self too. Back to my story... She totally ragged him then laughed and said, "let me show you how a real OS should work." She printed his document and told him he should just get with the times and use Kubuntu. Now that's smug!!!! Go Mom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Oneiric 11.10 KDE Version 4.7.4
Duo core 1.8 Intel
4 gig ram
Nvidia Go 7300 Graphics
Dell E1505 Laptop

I'm a happy pappy with Linux on my lappy!!!

Re: Reason for Kubuntu users to be smug

@dibl: It's not really a joke. I also got the message on my previous laptop about a month ago (on UNR). So I asked, and it seemed to be that my hard drive really had bad sectors and was failing. Then I got back to the shop I bought it from, and is seemed that my motherboard was failing.

So it does warn you that something is is wrong with your laptop, and it doesn't have to be fake.
Most important laptop specs (this is my main computer, with Kubuntu on it):

4096MB RAM (DDR2)
500GB Hard Disk
ATI Mobility Radeon 4570HD Videocard with 512MB GDDR3 RAM, up to 2280MB VRAM
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo-processor T6600

OS: Kubuntu 10.10
