    From VHS-C to DVD?

Do you know "howto" move VHS-C (don't have the adapter!) films to DVD? Don't have a DVD burner either, other than in PC. Should I go to a specialist? Don't think we have any in this village. I think Death Kitten also wrote something about "not to DVD" as well.

    Please enlighten me. Cheers.

I have a mini-dvd recorder that takes any analog input, and it can record from the line in into the mini-dvd you put in it. I connect a CHS player line out to the camera's line in. Then, I move the dvd iso to my hard-drive with k3b. I just playback from the HD, both in the big computer, and other home computers reading that big shared over nfs.

I moved most of my tapes this way, I still have one year to digitize. I guess I am waiting for a long, boring, freezing winter day to finish this up.

i use my capture card.. but with linux , i have been having problems in the recording department, i can view it just fine but i can't seam to capture any of it...

once you have you video on your computer captured as a video you can use devede to make you dvd,

you can install devede from the cli using this command
      Code:
      sudo apt-get install devede

I have used my Haupage PVR card to successfully capture my old VHS tapes in VLC and converted them to DVD using devede. It's very time consuming, as you have to play the entire tape at normal speed to capture it, the it takes just about as long to convert it.

The Hauppauge PVR 150 is now a discontinued item, but you are looking for a card that uses the ivtv driver. Here is a page that explains how to do the capture from the command line. It's simple.

I think, ask your friends. If anyone has a mini0dvd camcorder with line-in, this is the simplest by far! Of course I wouldn't buy a camera, or a capture card, just for this.

It took me 2 years to pull the trigger on a digital camera, in part because I was short in cash at that time, and in part because I was looking for something that would make my life easier. Having to transfer videos to the computer, post process, etc, seemed like too much hassle. Then I heard about the mini-dvd's, and we ended up buying a Sony that made our life so easy (including digitizing our old tapes).

                My story here:

That PVR-150 was used for maybe 20 hours, two years ago, and has been gathering dust in a drawer ever since. Anybody in the USA that wants it, cheap, PM me with a reasonable offer.

I've struggled with this in the past as well... ended up using a Hauppauge 150 (350) in a Windows box with BeyondTV... big hassle. For three tapes I'd just find a place that will do it for you for $20 a tape and be done with it... some things are FUN to do yourself... that's one of the reasons many people end up running linux... but tracking down audio sync problems is definitely the most frustrating thing ever. >

                  Good luck!

Partly solved! My wife bought a VCR/DVD -burner/player/recorder. A VHS-C adapter to VHS is now needed only. Thanks folks.
