      Re: Recommend a lightweight distro

Puppy's alright, and once loaded to memory it runs completely in memory - so it is fast.

One caveat on Puppy. If you decide to run Puppy from a full hard disk install (which is but one of about 3 - 4 different ways to run Puppy), please be sure to find out how to run it in other than root mode. the rationale that Puppy runs as root because it is effectively reloaded on every boot, DOES NOT APPLY when doing a full hard disk install. When doing a full hard disk install, it runs just like any other distro and is subject to the same security concerns - and solutions - as any other hard disk installed distro.

Other than that, it's a really fine Linux distribution!!

I was in a similar situation - old laptop, no HDD but I did have 256 Ram. I tried DSL, Puppy and Slax. If Slax is the Brazilian national football team, DSL and Puppy are like amateur teams from unknown provinces in inland China.
I do not know if Slax runs on 128 though. I had no problems with it.
        I cannot comment on Xubuntu.
        My 2 cents.
