Average battery life span?

Hello.

I'm building a new PC soon, and I've got a wireless keyboard+mouse combo from LabTec already. I wanted to know, what's the average battery life span on them? I'm using Duracell rechargeables. Those crap ones that come in buckets for 5$ never last long...

NiMH batteries have a high 'self-discharge' rate, meaning they'll go flat quite quickly of their own accord, whether or not you use the device.

I am running Ubuntu 8.10 (yes Gnome) with upgrades applied daily about 0900 UK time. Hardware is Dell Precision 420, 2x 800 MHz PIII, 512 MB RDRAM, nVidia GeForce 6800 128 MB AGP graphics, 18GB SCSI and 500GB IDE HDDs, DVD burner, Hauppage TV card.
