    [RESOLVED] Logon broken after upgrade

I got the notification for Update 25.04 today on my almost fresh install. I did the Update which worked fine. However after the Update I Just get a extra large onscreen Keyboard. The underlying logon Screen doesnt Look right (e.g. No wallpaper) and does Not react to credentials.

    Can i rescue the system?

OK, got it fixed. Apparently the Desktop had to be re-installed.

    Command:
    sudo apt install kubuntu-desktop

How did you managed to get a terminal to install it? Ctl+shift+* is not working

I had this same thing happen to me, which was rough.

I held down the left shift key during boot and booted into recovery mode. From there I enabled networking and then did
        Code:
        sudo apt install kubuntu-desktop

for me that was alt+f3 while alt+f2 or F1 is the gui

          Update:
ctrl+alt+f3 it is while ctrl+alt+f1 brings you back to the gui

I figured out how to do it. Ctl+Alt+F3 and after, Enter. That worked and i could access the terminal.
Then you solution workd perfectly. Thx.

Confirmed that this also worked for me:
              apt install kubuntu-desktop

I am a total Newbie and I get to the terminal page, enter my login name and then my pass word and it says wrong PW. How do I recover now? I was working so good on 24-10 and now this. Thanks in advance.Ke6kgo

There are ways to recover that even if you really do not have the password anymore, however I would first check if the keyboard layout is different in the console - you can check that while typing in the username. Make sure that the password looks correct if you type it in there.

On the terminal I can not see the password I enter. It is the same password I used to ok the upgrade. I also can not seem to find the instructions for entering as you did. Thanks. BobC ke6kgo
