will packages meant for Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon run on KUbuntu 24.10?

My previous computer runs Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon. My current machine is running Kubuntu 24.10.
There are some software packages in the Mint repositories that I would like to use with Kubuntu. Before I undertake adding the Mint repositories to Debian Package Manager (something I don't know how to do yet), my question is:
In general, will packages meant for Linux Mint 22 running Cinnamon (derived from Gnome 3, to my knowledge) run normally/successfully on KUbuntu 24.10 (based on KDE)? Or is that wishful thinking?

    My current system is:
    Operating System: Kubuntu 24.10
    KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.5
    KDE Frameworks Version: 6.6.0
    Qt Version: 6.6.2
    Kernel Version: 6.11.0-13-generic (64-bit)
    Graphics Platform: Wayland
    Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics
    Memory: 60.6 GiB of RAM
    Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon 780M
    Manufacturer: Framework
Product Name: Laptop 16 (AMD Ryzen 7040 Series)
    System Version: AG

It is generally not a good idea to mix OS repositories. The first thing to do is just check to see if the software packages you desire are available for installation in Kubuntu 'natively'; i.e., from Kubuntu's own repositories.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

      No. Do not attempt this.
Mint 22 is based on Ubuntu LTS 24.04.
You are on Kubuntu 24.10, or rather Ubuntu 24.10 as Kubuntu is not a separate distro, but a 'spin'. 24.10 a completely different OS version. Things may not go well.

KDE is not an issue at all here. It is the different core libraries between the two Ubuntu releases that are the problem.

Now, if you were on Kubuntu 24.04, then it should be doable, imo, though probably not worth the effort if you are not prepared to fix things in the (mostly) unlikely event that things get broken.

Believe it or not Mint, as an actual OS, is still more than 95% Ubuntu 24.04.

Tell us what software you can't find, as there are very few things that are actually specific to Mint, most of their software outside of a small number of utilities are directly from Ubuntu to begin with. Ubuntu also has Mate and Cinnamon desktops available as well.

It may just be finding the correct names for those things you are looking for.

Use Discover to search for the packages you want. Chances are that you have a good chance of finding them that way. You can find Discover in the Favorites area of the application launcher.
