Just finished upgrading my laptop from 24.04 LTS to 24.10. The upgrade went without any hiccups. But even though the package xserver-xorg-input-synaptics is still installed, my touchpad isn't disabled with the USB mouse plugged in.
Selecting Plasma (X11) at the SDDM Login, the touchpad settings page (System Settings > Mouse & Touchpad > Touchpad doesn't exist; says No touchpad found
Selecting Plasma (Wayland) at the SDDM Login, the touchpad settings page does exist, and even though Disable while typing is checked, it isn't honored; the touchpad remains active. I have already re-installed the xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package with no change; the touchpad remains active with the USB mouse plugged in.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

Removing (I purged) xserver-xorg-input-synaptics and restarting X did the trick. I've always had to install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in order to have the touchpad disabled when the mouse was plugged in. Apparently, now, xserver-xorg-input-synaptics conflicts with linbinput (libinput-bin). No matter, as long as the behavior of the touchpad is as I expect it to be, I'm good.
