Clean dual boot install of 24.10 on an Acer Nitro 5 laptop, replacing my previous gaming Linux distro UAlinux. Started with Wayland, but that thing has so many problems, changes my keyboard layout to English every login(I dont have an English layout), doesn't preserve changes to the Desktop, etc.etc., so switched to X11. Then the aforementioned problems disappear. But. Neither Wayland nor X11 will use my Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics card. The drivers are installed, NV control panel is set to performance, so is CPU. But if I try to play a Steam game, it will not use the GPU at all. Does anyone have any idea beyond the things you can google? Obviously the problem does exist and isn't rare.
EDIT: This has been solved. It turns out Kubuntu 24.10 does not consider it necessary to maybe utilise the GPU when attempting to do gaming, you have to force it to do that. The command sudo /usr/bin/prime-select nvidia solves the problem once and for all.
