As the subject explains I'm having problems with kubuntu 24.10 login. The pc boots to the login screen, but after I press the login button I simply get a totally black screen and the keyboard and mouse stops responding. I've tried leaving it for a few minutes but I'm not having any luck. It's a brand new system. If it helps I can give the specs.

Ok update. I downloaded and installed kubuntu 24.04 and it's running like a Swiss watch. If I simply run apt update and apt upgrade will that be enough to bring me up to 24.10? -

Ok I'm stumped.Checking for a new Ubuntu release
There is no development version of an LTS available.
To upgrade to the latest non-LTS development release
set Prompt=normal in /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades.

ok i took the time to read the message. I modded the release-upgrades file to say normal instead of lts.
