I decided to try out 24.10 with a clean installation, and everything went smoothly. However, when I checked my list of drivers on Driver Manager, I no longer see the Nvidia 470 driver, which I had previously used for my GE Force 730 graphics card. Does this mean that my card will no longer be supported by Kubuntu or Nvidia? To be on the safe side, I re-installed 24.04, which does have the missing drivers. But I'm curious as to why they are not available on 24.10. Is it because of Wayland?

Or use Xorg for the time being?
Assuming that you have used the nouveau driver in Plasma 6 and Wayland recently.
I have seen some user reports with similarly old cards working fine, while the 470 driver caused black screens and the like.

The main advantage is that my two Steam games work fine with 470 card but not with the Nouveau driver. I tried Wayland using the Nouveau driver and mostly it worked, although YouTube occasionally caused it to freeze up. Still, after a couple of weeks of problems after upgrading to 24.10, I think I'll stick with 24.04 until I get a new graphics card.
