System Update icon gone after upgrade

The system update icon gone is gone after upgrade from 24.04. When there are updates pending in Discover, no notification appears. But even the icon itself is not available in the system icon list.

Check your system tray , it may be in the 'hidden' section. Check the tray settings - it may be set to hidden or disabled.

I already did. The icon is completely gone.

Now the notification came. Maybe because I switched to "only notify about available updates" instead of the automatic install option in discover update settings. But I never touched any settings going from 24.04 to 24.10. Whatever.

I am having similar problem that is persisting.

The update icon will only show up in the system tray (and the entry list in cfg panel) only if there are updates to be applied. As soon as the update is applied, the icon disappears.

When the icon has been there (pending an update) I have tried all combinations of display when hidden, always display, display when relevant, etc.

As soon as the update is applied the icon disappears from the tray and disappears from the entry list in the system tray configuration panel.

I believe this is by design. I can'`t recall it ever being any different. There will not be an icon unless there are updates to install, There is no "persistent" icon for this.
