    [SOLVED] Bluetooth error: br-connection-unknown

    I've just freshly installed 24.10 Kubuntu, deleting my previous 24.04 installation. Apart from a few issues here are there, some freezes and some crashes, I think there is quite a lot improvement from the previous version (thanks devs!!).

    Coming to the point, I tried connecting to my Boat Rockerz bluetooth neckband, but it didn't work (the bt neckband did connect in 24.04). Trying to connect from the system settings -> Bluetooth, I get br-connection-unknown. Since many a times, these errors are resolved by forgetting the bt device from the laptop and also making the bt device forget the laptop by connecting to another phone/laptop, I did so and then performed the above steps again - but got the same error.

    I also tried to connect manually through bluetoothctl, but I still have the same issue. Here is the bluetoothctl output:
    $ bluetoothctl
    Waiting to connect to bluetoothd...[bluetooth]# Agent registered
    [bluetooth]# scan on
    [bluetooth]# SetDiscoveryFilter success

    Please help me resolve this issue.

    Thanks in advance!

    I found another info that can be useful. These are the errors shown at the bottom of the output of the command systemctl status bluetooth:
    ... bluetoothd[6192]: src/profile.c:ext_connect() Hands-Free Voice gateway failed connect to 11:11:22:CC:94:F4: Connection refused (111)
    ... bluetoothd[6192]: profiles/audio/avdtp.c:avdtp_connect_cb() connect to 11:11:22:CC:94:F4: Connection refused (111)
    ... bluetoothd[6192]: profiles/audio/avdtp.c:avdtp_connect_cb() connect to 11:11:22:CC:94:F4: Connection refused (111)

      Another info: I can connect to other (Sony) bluetooth headphones, but not these ones.

        Hello,

        I am in Kubuntu 24.04.1 LTS x86_64, since a few weeks I have the same issue with my Logitech z407 Speaker system.

          Hello,

          As of today bluetooth is working again.

          I use a bluetooth dongle. I had to unplug it an replug it to a different port for it to work. Once it has worked with that port, it worked again with the original port I was using. As I struggle to use my Librem Key (a variant of the Nitrokey Pro 2, made by Purism), since the same period of time, I wonder if their is not something fishy with USB port management, in the first place.

            lakshayrohila, did had a look into the output of `dmesg -w`?

            There you could find other informations regarding the behavior of your devices.

              Ok, so I was able to fix it. I have a dual boot setup with windows - although I rarely use that OS. Still, since I had my earphones already connected with the windows, after reinstalling Kubuntu, some settings got messed up.

              Now, I simply booted windows, connected succesfully with it, removed the device from it, paired the earphones with other device to make them forget this laptop, forgot the earphones from Kubuntu, and finally repaired and now everything's working fine!!
