The Short: Kubuntu 24.10, I've copied my EDID bin and want to force load this for Wayland on boot
The Long: I have an LG 4k hdr TV. When plugged directly into the PC, the PC can see the appropriate resolution, refresh rate options, etc. But when I put my Receiver in between the two, it defaults to 640x480 and will not show refresh rate options above 30hz. Even if I change the resolution to the monitors real native, the next reboot sends it back to 640x480. I connected the TV and copied the EDID bin, but have no idea how to set up my initrd to force use this EDID for this HDMI port on the card. The only guide i found was from 2008 which did not work (it wanted me to rename the copied initrd to initrd.gz and unpack). Can someone point me to where I can learn how to modify and implement a modified initrd this way?
Other details to hopefully prevent non-answers:
- Yes the receiver supports it (Onkyo TX-SR494)
- Yes both HDMI cables support it (HDMI 2.1)
- No i'm not switching to X (
