The theme installer with the shipped version on 24.10 (plasma 6) is broken in my own opinion. I could be wrong, but many report issues in installing new themes via the theme installer in the control panel applet. I've tried to no avail and over the past few weeks I've come back trying and searching. Many posts points to issues with connectivity with kde.look.org and I'm in no position to say whether that is indeed the culprit. If I can recall clearly, before I could download a theme and manually install it via the control panel applet just pointing it to the downloaded file or I could be grossly mistaken mixing it up with something else.
There should be a way to manually install a theme file downloaded from kde.look.org as many say that's how they do it. But I've never tried until this morning. I was half expecting for there to be a 'readme' file in the tar.gz file. To my surprise, none. I'm guessing the developers take it that those who come there know what they're doing, hence no hand-holding. Do not get me wrong. I'm not complaining about it. The irony of it is despite my years as a sysadmin, my computing work life was at the terminal, writing cron jobs, server maintenance...you can guess the whole shebang of it all. So while I've been using a DE, I've hardly had the need to play around and tinkle with things until my old themes that worked with earlier versions of plasma started misbehaving. That's why I went to explore new ones to change over.
Enough of the rant, do I just copy the theme components to the various directories under
How do I identify which part goes to the sddm folder and which goes to icons? I've searched the forum hoping that I'd see something pointing me forward, but didn't find any. If there is, please feel free to link to that post.
Thanks in advance.

Edit: Found help in the Arch Linux forums. Turns out I was manually copying to the wrong folder. For those who run into the same issue here are the steps listed below:

Thanks in advance.
Edit: Found help in the Arch Linux forums. Turns out I was manually copying to the wrong folder. For those who run into the same issue here are the steps listed below:
- Locate the theme by the temp directory and copy it to your downloads folder.
- Extract files to /home/username/local/share/plasma/lookandfeel/
- Go back to the theme installer in control panel and your theme will be there.
