Firefox does not save credit cards

    Hello,

I am using FireFox coming with Kubuntu 24.04 (snap). I have noticed it looks impossible to get it storing credit cards (which used to work fine with 22.04).
Is there a solution for this please?

    Thanks,

Personally I would not use Firefox to save sensitive information like that. I'm not saying it's insecure, but IMO you'd be better using the Bitwarden extension to save credit cards & passwords.

Is anything happening? is it not present, or not working? What part fails?

If the Snap was working in 22.04, then it should work the same in 24.04, since the FF and its included components would be 100% identical (this is a main point of Snap/Flatpak)

I am not seeing it here.

It may be a bug in the current Firefox version itself. Or perhaps an extension may be interfering. Or a damaged file, even.

When in Firefox, click on the hamburger icon and then click on Settings then type credit in the Find in Settings search box. Under Autofill, ensure that Save and fill payment methods is checked.

          I hope you get a solution jlbo93.
On a lighter note, when I saw the title, I thought "Great" -- that might be a new feature of Firefox! ha-ha-ha

            Hello,
            Thanks for the replies.
A simple way to reproduce the issue is trying to insert a new credit card into firefox through the parameter menu to add a new card.
If I fill a new card and press OK, the card does not get added, the list of available cards remain empty.
There is no error message. Nothing happens.

            Thanks,

one thing to try is to either create a new FF profile (not a replacement) and see if this happens there as well.
Or, create a new user login, which would also have a fresh profile.

If it doesn't happen there, we will know it is something with your profile.
If you use any extension, try disabling them and see if that helps.

                Hello,
I can confirm credit card storage using the Firefox default snap does not work. Can't save a card, and of course can not use saved cards to pay anything.
I have installed Firefox nightly through a PPA (Doing so it is possible to have the snap default version and the nightly one on the machine). Nightly version works fine: saving cards is OK, auto fill also works.
My conclusion: it looks like there is an issue with the firefox snap.
Where should i submit this bug ? Firefox ? Kubuntu ?
                Thanks,

Firefox, since IIRC they make the snap. Or Ubuntu

This is not an uncommon problem over the years, and not just on Mozilla's snap. Addons can muck with this as well as some website code, so don't discount that aspect -- Firefox nightly or beta might have seen fixes or updates that help with this.

I also suspect VPN usage might mess with this too, Saving cards and autofill is only enabled in a few countries. It also uses GeoIP or something to detect location for this feature. I just figured this all out a couple of days ago.

I have no problem on my desktop PC here in Australia, but that is normally connected to my PC back in the US via Tailscale, which is set to be an exit node (aka a VPN).

On my laptop, which is not normally connected to my Tailnet, but is synced with my main FF profile on the PC, I don't even have any settings section for this in the browser unless I modify options in about:config.
Note that neither of these systems are using the snap for FF.

I was pulling my hair out, or what's left of it rather, until I actually searched for this.
My existing cards would not work--could not even manually select any, nor could I edit or add a new one.
Location detection also affects saved addresses - that also stopped working/disappeared from settings, since this is only enabled in a few countries.

So, if you are using a VPN for other countries, you might eventually see FF Nightly lose autofill as well.
