    Konsole Issue(s)

Finally got my 22.04 updated to 24.04 but not without issues.

Tried to install my HP Toolbox (with Konsole) and when I got to sudo apt upgrade It went in to a loop and kept saying Waiting for cache lock: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend. It is held by process 11896 (synaptic)

    How do I fix that?

    Thanks
    G

Exit synaptic (if you actually have it open). If is isn't open, do a normal logout and restart. That in itself will normally clear lock files.

You appear to still have 22.04 (Jammy) active repositories in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/, which you shouldn't after upgrading to 24.04 (Noble). That is creating the conflict in package versions.

What do you have in /etc/apt/sources.list.d
In a konsole run: ls -la /etc/apt/sources.list.d/

You need to examine each of the .list files to see which one(s) have jammy referenced. Easiest way is to run:

            grep jammy /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*

            Just copy/paste the results here.

Exactly how did you do this supposed upgrade? From what is in /etc/apt/sources.list.d, it seems to me that the upgrade process didn't finish.

Hmm. Let me rethink that statement for a moment.

Lets see the full contents of those files. In the konsole run: cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*

                    Copy and paste the output.

Yeah, it doesn't appear that the upgrade to 24.04 finished. The active (lines without a preceding # sign) repositories are all still referencing jammy.

The repositories for Audio Recorder and kelebek333 hplip, both referencing jammy, haven't (yet) been updated by their maintainer for use with noble.

I need to see the content of the file /etc/apt/sources.list, if you have it. I suspect maybe you do, as you don't have /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu.sources
