VPN Software

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help
I was using Wireguard with no issues on my old system, ahve recently upgraded and done a clean install of Kubuntu, but now when I download it from Discover it refuses to launch
Can anyone recommend a VPN that will more or less work out of the box?

I've tried several from Discover but can't seem to get any to launch or work which is disappointing.
What VPN do you use and how did you get it to work?

I use PIA Private internet access, but it's not free you have to pay for it. It installs and runs fine in Kubuntu 20.04 LTS.
But before you pay for a VPN what happens if you try to launch it via the terminal? Any error messages
I don't have it installed here but go to the menu and right click on the menu icon and select edit applications Go to wire guard and and click on it. find the program line and copy it and paste it into your terminal and hit enter what happens?
