sysytem settings and google seem to not play well together

I don't know how to describe this except this way...

System settings -> online accounts -> add new account -> google -> email address -> google password > BAM! This app is blocked


This app tried to access sensitive info in your Google Account. To keep your account safe, Google blocked this access.
Hum went around the internet and tried every solution there and they did not work. I think because they are solutions for an older kubuntu plasma version. Signed into my google account and tried feverishly to no avail. Google overwhelms me with everything except how to unblock my 'system service' app.

If anyone can help me here I'm greatly thankful. I use my google account for certain backups.

It’s a known issue. Google doesn’t think Kubuntu is ‘safe’ or ‘secure’, so prevents attempts to make a connection.
