release upgrade packages held back for long time 😕

On my 24.04 desktop, these packages are showing as held back with 0% phasing for a long time:

python3-distupgrade
ubuntu-release-upgrader-core
ubuntu-release-upgrader-qt

I know at least one of these being held has been discussed before, and that I can use apt install or aptitude to force their upgrade. But it seems odd that they have been held for so long, without the phased percentage budging from 0.

I imagine that this might be a away to phase the release upgrade, or to hold back release upgrades until a problem is sorted; but I'd expect more chatter about it if that was the case.

On my 24.04 install, I have no held packages (just now ran sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade). I suspect something amiss on your rig. If it were me, I'd try upgrading those three packages, one at a time, and see what apt has to say then.

No idea why, though. 55 days is a bit long. Can't access the error log tho.

Of course one can just manually install the held packages to bypass the phasing, or turn that off altogether.

No, phasing is sort of random.
Rather, who gets the update now vs who gets phased is.
