Macbook upgrade from Kubuntu 20.10 to 24.04 LTS

Here's are the specs for the macbook that I'm running:

    Operating System: Kubuntu 20.10
    KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5
    KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0
    Qt Version: 5.14.2
    Kernel Version: 5.8.0-63-generic
    OS Type: 64-bit
    Processors: 2 × Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40GHz
    Memory: 3.6 GiB of RAM
    Graphics Processor: NVAF

It's been pretty stable since I installed 20.10, but I can't remember what I did, or how I did it. When I was planning to upgrade to 22, I didn't see much support for Mac. I would like to upgrade to 24.04 LTS, and I'm looking for a little guidance.

Do I need to create a boot drive with something like Etcher, or is the process completely different for a Mac? It's been years since I installed on this one, and I have no idea what I did back then.

    Thanks in advance.

You'll be better off just downloading 24.04 and doing a fresh install, overlaying your existing 20.10, or, install it in a separate partition. 20.10 became EOL (End-of-Life) on July 22, 2021).
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Is the process the same when installing on a PC? Do you just create the startup disk using Balena Etcher?
