[SOLVED] Installation of Kubuntu 24.04 failed

I tried to install Kubuntu on an older computer. Before that Kubuntu 18.04 and 20.04 worked fine.
I created serveral USB sticks with kubuntu-24.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso. Sha256 checksum was ok after downloading.

Booting from USB was also ok. Several popups with "Connecting..." appeared and were annoying. After selecting the time zone, language settings, account infos and partition infos, the installation was always aborted the messsage: resync aborted with error code 11. Unpacking the file /cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs is not possible.

Are there any hints or suggestions to solve this problem?
    Any hints are highly appreciated.

The install logs should provide more information than the error code 11 spat out. Check the installation logs to see what it says. So check
    Code:
    /var/log/syslog

The error has nothing to do with lacking internet access or firewall -- I almost always install without an internet connection.

It appears to indicate that the drive is full, or maybe the temp space is (your RAM).
What sort of install or partition options are you using, and what sort of specs do you have?

It also might be worth trying different tools to create the USB. I am a fan of Ventoy, which boots multiple ISOs without 'burning' them, as I have found that regular re-use of USB sticks for creating installers seems to corrupt things after a while, sometimes.

Thanks for your reply. You are right this has nothing to do with lacking internet access. Usually I create several partition for installation (/ , /usr, /var, /boot/efi, /home). Obviously the root partition was too small for the installation (only 8 GiB). After I increased the partition to 32 GiB the installation works fine.
