    Grub rescue needed

Installing the latest version of Kubuntu has put my computer into grub rescue. Has anybody got the way that I can get out of this. I installed over the previous Linux distro that I was trying to use ( Siduction ). This was on a dual boot with Windows ( 10, given up on moving to 11 ). Was installing from a USB stick with Ventoy installed. Had a look and liked what I saw, so installed K over the S partition and then did some of the installation bits ( language, region, etc ) and when it was doing the actual installation the screen went blank. Mouse, keyboard, nothing works but it came up with grub rescue. I have no idea how to get it back to any form of computer that I can actually use.

Use your computer's specific boot menu hot key (this differs by brand/model. My HP desktop uses f9) to select a different OS, or change the boot order settings for it in your BIOS.

You will need to reinstall Kubuntu, after checking the ISO or grabbing a fresh download. It is also worth trying different USB stick, USB ports, or even different software if the crash continues to happen.

You also might try deleting the old partition before starting the install - either from a different OS or directly from a live Kubuntu session.

It also may be worth checking the drive's health.

But the most likely cause is a bad/corrupted image download or dodgy USB stick

There are dozens if not hundreds of How-Tos for this on-line. The problem is probably because GRUB did not get re-installed when the installer failed or was interrupted.

Honestly, you're probably better off booting back to the Kubuntu LiveUSB on Ventoy and trying again. I don't know Siduction so it's possible it had a different layout than Kubuntu wants. Before installing, I'd review your partition layout and also see how far the install got. You might be able to just re-install GRUB from the LiveUSB.

Keep a close eye on your partitions - you don;t want to accidentally wipe Windows unless you're ready for that.

Thanks for this. I can at least do some other things rather than try to learn about grub.
        All the best,
