Kubuntu 24.04 reinstall question.

Hi. I'm having trouble booting kubuntu 24.4 after TRYING to install vmware. My question is can i do a repair install like i can on ubuntu in Kubuntu I can't see any option on the install for repair. I have a single disk setup.
I have tried numerous things but i can get su. it just says: "Su?: authentication failure" so my options are limited.

Can anyone help?

Can you elaborate? You had a working 24.04 before you tried installing vmware, is that correct? When you said 'TRYING to install vmware', what are you saying? The install failed or? Can you boot into the previous kernel?
