I am writing to request assistance with my recent transition to Kubuntu. Unfortunately, I have encountered several challenges during the installation process and post-installation that have left me uncertain about my decision.
The installation was plagued by multiple crashes and errors, particularly during the partitioning phase in the first stages of the installation process and while installing and configuring the bootloader. After approximately 13 to 14 attempts, I was finally able to complete the installation. If I understand correctly, the system does not allow me to encrypt the /boot partition; yet, if I choose not to encrypt it, I receive a warning.
I am now facing a significant issue during the boot process. During the boot process, the system prompts me to enter the password for the encrypted disk partitions via a simple graphical user interface. After entering the first password, the system subsequently requests another password, which I believe is for the next partition. at this point, the system becomes unresponsive, with no input being accepted from the keyboard.
I have discovered a temporary workaround by using the "Ctrl + Alt + Del" command to restart the system. After rebooting, the system prompts me for the passwords of the disk partitions in a command-line interface. Once I enter the passwords, the system successfully boots and operates normally.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance or solutions you could provide to help me resolve this issue more permanently. I am unsure if I do or did something wrong or if it is a bug with Kubuntu
the current state of the disk partitions:
/dev/nvme0n1p1 - 8 MiB - unformatted
/dev/nvme0n1p2 - 1 GiB - ext4 (Not Encrypted) - /boot
/dev/nvme0n1p3 - 8 GiB - linuxswap (Encrypted) - swap
/dev/nvme0n1p4 - 100 GiB - ext4 (Encrypted) - /
/dev/nvme0n1p5 - 340 GiB - ext4 (Encrypted) - /home
/dev/nvme0n1p6 - 16.75 GiB - ext4 (Encrypted) - /var
unallocated - 2.49 MiB - unformatted
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
