Recent update Kubuntu boots to a mouse cursor only

    Hi everyone
I'm a bit of a noob so please bear with me! I recently had a bunch of updates waiting in Discover which I did, it wanted a reboot which I did but now it takes forever for the log in screen to appear and when I put my password in the screen goes black with just the mouse cursor. I tried going back a version through the advanced options in Grub and I don't even get a log in screen.

The version numbers in the advanced section of Grub are 6.8.0-1014-oracle and 6.8.0-47. I don't see any other obvious error messages.

Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks

I have had black screen / mouse cursor only after upgrade to 24.04, found these solutions online:
    https://askubuntu.com/questions/1515...-after-upgrade
I used the method explained in the above link and for now the OS is working.

However the above is a work around solution. The actual problem maybe graphic drivers:
I found this solution online for that but have not attempted it:
"AMD driver: For users with AMD integrated graphics, adding amdgpu.dc=0 to the boot options can fix the problem."

in the example below it is also Graphics Nivada driver

I am not very technical so use caution not to break your system!
