Cheese: Audio lagging behing video. Pipewire related?

    Hello Good People,

Was running Kubuntu 24.04 with Ubuntu Studio packages installed (pipewire etc). All was good until I tried using cheese (need it for work). Couldn't make a video as audio was lagging behind. Apparently, it might be a pipewire issue. I tried installing from terminal. There were quite a few error messages (don't ask me what they were now: I resolved one and there was another about a thumbnail). There were also error messages when I ran cheese from the terminal. Couldn't figure it out so I went back to Kubuntu 22.04 and installed Ubuntu Studio (the old non-pipewire version). Now cheese installed without error messages and works good. However, I would prefer to be on Kubuntu 24.04 (or perhaps the new version of Ubuntu Studio coming out next week where I can choose the packages during installation). Any advice on how to resolve this cheese issue? I would be grateful for any help.

    Hi Matt73,

I have the latest 24.04 Ubuntu Studio. Just installed Cheese from Discovery without a problem. There are two packages there , Ubuntu and snap.

I have a Kubuntu 24.04 in a separate drive too. Just installed Cheese from Discovery without a problem too. No need to use line command.

When you install Ubuntu Studio over kubuntu there is a separate package that installed by default called Ubuntu Studio Audio Configuration. You need to run this to choose some options there. The new Ubuntu Studio 24.04 use a different setup for audio server... and even about the use of jack ( they are going to discontinued it in the next releases ). Maybe you did something wrong there. It seems a latency problem.
