I had a very bad experience updating Kubuntu from 22.04 to 24.04. On my desktop PC I got the update message and, unconsciously, I said YES. While it was updating, I ran to my laptop and asked it to update from the console as well. How unfortunate. When they finished updating, NEITHER of the two computers could boot. They just hung up forever. It took me a day trying different possibilities and in the end I had to download the ISO and install from scratch. Fortunately I had a pendrive with Ubuntu 22.04 with which I logged into the PCs and saved the data before reinstalling from scratch. To make matters worse, on the desktop PC, when I installed from the pendrive, the Grub did not run correctly and the boot screen with the options did not appear (I have Kubuntu and Windows installed). I had to install "Boot-Repair" to repair the Grub and leave my PC operational. In conclusion. A very disappointing update.
