I just upgraded my Framework 13 laptop (Intel i7-1260P version) from an up-to-date 22.04 LTS Kubuntu install to 24.04.1 LTS, Now I can't log in. I had the fingerprint sensor set up and working before the upgrade, so I suspect that has something to do with the problem--the system seems to have disabled the sensor for login, but not re-enabled my password. I'm positive I know exactly what my password is, and I've quadruple-checked that I was typing it correctly, but it won't accept it. Any idea how I can recover?
Edit: I was able to recover. I had to use a live CD to boot the system, then chroot to the broken install and run sudo pam-auth-update --force and disable the fingerprint sensor from there. After rebooting, I was able to login with my password again.
